History
Welkin Associates, Ltd., a Virginia corporation, was incorporated in 1988. Welkin has grown steadily as a result of our reputation for assisting our intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance customers to meet the needs of the Intelligence Community and military services.
From 1988-1993, Welkin's sole customer was the National Reconnaissance Office. Beginning in 1993, Welkin began to grow rapidly -- from 12 to more than 100 associates in 5 years -- based almost entirely on "word-of-mouth" recommendations from customer to customer.

In July 1998, Welkin, a private company, was bought by Nichols Research Corporation, but was maintained as a wholly-owned subsidiary. In November 1999, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) acquired Nichols Research, and with it, Welkin. Due to the sensitive nature of Welkin's role as a SETA company and CSC's established role as a developer, systems integrator and IT provider, a strict "firewall" was necessary to ensure there were no conflicts of interest. Welkin maintains this independence today by operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of CSC.
Welkin's headquarters is in Chantilly, Virginia. The company also has an office in Denver, Colorado. Over the years, individual Welkin Associates have provided long-term support to customers in other locations such as: San Diego and Monterey, California; Norfolk, Virginia; Bremerton, Washington; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the United Kingdom.
Currently, Welkin is assisting customers to solve problems associated with the full spectrum of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance including: SIGINT, IMINT, and MASINT; collection management; and the communications and networking required to make these intelligence disciplines responsive to the needs of intelligence and operational community and military users. Welkin also supports the user community, including military and civilian agencies of government, in the effective utilization of developed data.
